Christmas 2012 Catch Up

This Christmas was full of fun. I'm trying to make more of an effort to do more fun things and traditions with the kids instead of letting them get too focused on gifts. I know they will remember the things we did more than what they received. Of course we made sure to keep our main focus on it being a celebration of Jesus' birth above all. We never made it to go see Santa but it wasn't a big deal and they didn't even realize it. We had their preschool Christmas parties, went to see lots of Christmas lights (including Lights of Life), made cookies, made a birthday cake for Jesus, went to our church's Christmas Eve service, ate lots of yummy food, made gingerbread cookies for their teachers, set out milk and cookies for Santa, sprinkled reindeer food in the front yard, and had 4 days of opening gifts with family. It was busy but fun.

We've been enjoying having Daddy home, off of work for about 2 weeks. That has helped me out greatly since Micah is still so young. It was nice being able to sleep in after having gotten up to feed Micah several times a night, since Daddy got up with the big kids for me. We tried putting Landon back in the toddler bed in Madison's room but unless he is confined in a crib, he gets up anywhere between 4:30 and 7 to play! That was NOT fun. We finally decided to keep him in his crib in his own room and try to get him back to sleep when he woke up. After a few nights, he finally started getting up at a more normal time between 7 and 8 again. Whew. He is also pretty much done potty training. He only wears a diaper at night since he goes in his sleep and during naps. He has done great with very few accidents. He was pretty much potty trained before Micah was born, but I got a little lazy and did not want to get up and take him to the potty while trying to feed a newborn and clean up accidents after being up all night.

Since Micah is now 6 weeks old, I decided to go ahead and put him in his own bed in Madison's room. She has the bigger room and does great around him and sleeps hard, so she doesn't wake up if he starts fussing. He was only getting up once a night to eat, and he did great his first few nights. In fact, he slept 9 hours straight, from 10:30-7:30, nursed, then went back to sleep for 2 more hours. Amazing!

I can't believe how big he is getting. He is starting to laugh more, smile a lot when we talk to him, and coo a little bit too. He's quickly outgrowing all his clothes and looks much older than he really is. He weighs around 13-14 lbs. at just 6 weeks old and his eyes are looking bluer and bluer like his big brother's.

Now, for the ridiculous amount of pictures...I apologize ahead of time. I narrowed it down from about 500 I think...
Madison's preschool party
 Sweet little friends
Her class sang "Away In A Manger" and "We Wish You A Merry Christmas." Madison was pretty much the only one singing, and you could hear her above everyone else. Brad put a video of it on facebook if you didn't catch it. She is such a little leader.
Landon had his Christmas party at the same time, so Daddy was able to get off work early to go to his while Micah and I went to Madison's.

They presented us with cute little gifts with their handprints. I tried to get a picture of them holding them up for me, but they decided to fight over the same spot on the floor to stand. Oh well. Real life, people.
They are both OBSESSED with Christmas lights so we went to drive around the Lights of Life.
Christmas Eve service with some sweet friends.

Landon refused to have his picture taken, and this was him in between saying "NO!"
Yup, we're in that stage...
Presents, round 1
Landon got his hockey shirt that he NEVER takes off. I think I've managed to wash it twice at most.
Presents, round 2.
We are so thankful for God's blessings this year. Micah of course, and my grandfather is pretty much cancer-free. What a beautiful picture of the 2 of them together.

 Presents, round 3.
Madison FINALLY gets her Princess Ariel dress she's been asking for for months! Yay!

Making Jesus' birthday cake.
Yes, I let them make the entire thing.
 and lick a little batter.
Madison was excited to frost the cake.

Night before Christmas. Santa's cookies and milk are all ready to go.
Sprinkling the magical reindeer food in the yard.

The 3 munchkins in their Christmas jammies. Micah had some that matched, however he outgrew his several weeks before Christmas :(
So here he is wearing Landon's old "My 1st Christmas" sleeper. It's a 6 month size.
Daddy reading us the Christmas story in Luke from the Bible.
 Presents, round 4. Christmas morning!
We have to eat some yummy breakfast casserole on Christmas morning. SO good.
Presents, round 5.
More partying in Newnan with more family!

Daddy took Landon to get another haircut a little after Christmas so Mommy didn't have to. I tried to get a decent picture.

So that pretty much sums up our Christmas. We had a great time and are so blessed with such wonderful family and friends. I'm so thankful for all God's blessings this past year and am looking forward to 2013!
