Madison's 3 Year and Landon's 18 Month Check Ups

Landon had his 18 month check up last week and is doing great. The doctor said he is perfect. He weighed in at 22 lbs. 8 oz. (9%) and was 32 inches tall (40%). His head of course is in the lead at 81%. He's just lean, healthy, and smart ;) The doctor wants us to put him on the potty now once a day to get into a routine. We typically do it before baths but I guess now we really need to focus on it. Madison started at 15 months, but Landon just hasn't seemed as interested. He likes to just sit on the potty and look around. He cried while they weighed and measured him, however when he got his shot he just laid there staring at the nurse. Never cried a single time. I'm sure he was thinking "what the heck are you doing to me, woman?"

Madison also had her 3 year check up. Unfortunately I've had to take the kids to all appointments by myself lately since Daddy has been in Atlanta for some training for work. I spent 2 hours at the doctor with both for her checkup during what was supposed to be naptime. They did great for the most part though. (aside from Landon sticking his hand in the toilet after Maddie got her urine sample done...among a few other things).
She weighed in at 27 lbs. 9.6 oz. (17%) and was a little over 3 feet tall (30%). The doctor said that they have new growth charts/percentiles so that's why the kids percentiles are lower now, but really she is staying around the same percentile-wise. She had her finger pricked to check her levels and did great. They love her and spoil her there giving the cute little redhead bracelets and stickers. (Little did they know she got that stuff last week at Landon's appointment!) They also wanted to make sure she was potty-trained. Apparently there are still a good bit of 3 year olds that aren't. (at least not at night still). It's funny to say that she was completely potty trained morning and night at 1 year old and never wore a single pull-up. Landon is the one who will be 3 and stubborn like his momma. I know, I deserve every bit of it :)

So overall both kids are healthy and growing well! I'm not surprised that they're now on the lower end of the charts, they're such good, healthy eaters. They could live off of veggies and milk. But they both love a variety of balanced meals. To be honest I'm kind of glad they are not average in weight the older they get. No one ever said the higher the better, but unfortunately that's what a lot of parents think. For example, 50% is average, not the ideal weight. The doctor once said it is good to be lower, it's thinner and healthier. Especially since these days the average person seems overweight.

Well, another appointment tomorrow for our third child! (His or her FIRST appointment!) March has been the appointment month for sure! I'm so excited about tomorrow and can't wait to see his or her first picture :) I'll post that ASAP!
